3 Card Reading

Did a reading for someone today by email:

I feel as if I am at a stand still in my life, and just need to know what direction I should take my career or should I start an online business. Hello X, I’m Mel and I’ve been given your free reading to do today. You’ve asked two questions in one, but I can only answer one using up to three cards. I will re phrase you question to: “What direction should I take my career?” It may well suggest such a change, but we’ll see. I’m using a copy of an early 17th Century deck, the earliest known complete deck, The Tarot De Paris. The first card will be your career as it is now, the second card will suggest what you can do and the third card will be the likely outcome for you. The first card drawn was “La Roue De Fourtune” The Wheel of Fortune. The second card was “Le Pape” The Pope. The third card was 5 of Cups. Two cards were from the Major Arcana indicating the importance to you of the question, the other was cups indicating an emotional result. The Wheel of Fortune is the present situation. It looks like a struggle going on, perhaps a power struggle. Too much instability and the same old things going round and round. The figure on the top trying to hold onto his position of power, while the other figures seem set on toppling him. I get the feeling there is a lot of politics involved and perhaps too many ups and downs, but an improvement in the situation is desirable. No one is actually holding onto the handle of the wheel and controlling it. Your career is like being on board a ship that is without a rudder and is at the mercy of elements over which it has no control. The Pope is a spiritual figure of authority. His body faces the right which is the direction of the future but his face looks directly at the observer indicating that he is holding back. At his feet is a mythical creature of some kind. I associate it with the element of earth and so practical matters. In his left hand is what appears to be a very large key. In the other hand, some kind of wand, which would be the element of fire, spiritual growth and creativity. The triple crown on his head indicates his role as a spiritual leader and his link between earth and spirit. His hands appear to have the stigmata, which can indicate your need to sacrifice your desires, or that some sacrifice will be involved in achieving the change you want. It suggests to me taking the advice of others, people in authority and with knowledge and wisdom in the area you are considering. On a positive note, The Pope is an initiator, a guide who can show you your purpose in life. The likely outcome isn’t necessarily what you are hoping for on an emotional level as it indicates a degree of conflict, although there is faith and enthusiasm, perhaps verging on fanaticism. You have faith in yourself perhaps a feeling that the universe is taking care of you. On the other hand, you could become bitter and disappointed. To sum up, you don’t see any forward movement in your current situation, which seems chaotic at best. You may benefit from someone in authority who has already taken the path you are considering. You are likely to have to make sacrifices but you could become caught up in your desire to the degree of fanaticism, perhaps a false sense of security but you may well end up bitter and disappointed. While not very encouraging, if I were you, I’d cast my net further, perhaps the on line business may result in failure, obviously staying put is not desirable, perhaps you should take advice. The Pope is a teacher, perhaps you could undertake some sort of course and look for a different option.
