Method: Anglo-Saxon Runes (The proper set which I only use for important questions).
Question:
First rune. What is the state of my business?
Second rune: What do I need to make it succeed?
Third rune: What will be the outcome?
Staves Dawn: Ear, Tiw, Man.
Rune Poem verse for Ear:
Grave is hateful to every warrior
When steadily the flesh begins,
The corpse, to become cold, to choose the earth
Palely as a bed-mate, fruits fall
Joys pass away, bonds of faith break.
Not too cheery or optimistic then? Is it dead in the water before I begin? Well it’s true I fear it failing, but it is winter and few people are here. Bonds of faith breaking I feel reflects my old business where customer loyalty has been failing and the business has gone cold and I’m starting this business from that position. A death provides opportunities for something new to grow. The grave also gives me a chance to rest and re-charge myself.
Rune Poem verse for Tiw:
Tiw is a token, it keeps troth well
With noble-men. Always on its course
Over the mists of night, it never fails.
The verse is referring to the God Tiw or Tyr. Also, his star, the North Star.
Tiw is a God who has favoured me in the past he is a God of great courage and sacrifice, putting others before himself. The North Star tells me to keep steady and stick to my course and let nothing take me from that course, so at the moment, with Ear, I’m in the mists of night because I can’t see how things will go. I must have faith in myself and the Gods and persevere. The course may need sacrifices, but I must remain brave through any adversity because the star will guide me where I need to go.
Rune Poem verse for Man:
Man is in his mirth, dear to his kinsmen,
Although each shall depart from the other,
For the Lord wants to commit, by his decree
That frail flesh to the earth.
Again, the theme of death? Does this mean the venture will fail? Possibly but I think it means it can go either way. There is the plus side then everyone is happy, then the minus side when there is death. This indicates man in all his frailty and a business like a man, is born, lives and dies, so before death, there must be life. How long that will be can’t yet be told. I think at least there will be the happy times first. Also I must take into account my age, I am in my autumn years, but I feel that it can make me a man fulfilled, I love what I do and I’m full of enthusiasm, I think it may show me as a self-sufficient man, at least for a while.
