Daily Draw

Daily Draw Wednesday, 30 November 2016 Method: Anglo Saxon Runes Stave Drawn: Ing (Ingvi Frey – Lord) The Rune Poem verse is: Ing was first among the East Danes Seen by men until he again eastward Went over the wave, the wain followed on, This is what the warriors called the hero. This poem describes the journey of the Sun. Frey is associated with the sun in that he rides a golden bristled boar called Gullinbusti. Gull means Sun. The wain is a baggage train or wagon. At the ragnarok, Frey fights with an antler, having once given his sword away in the wooing of a giantess. To my mind, although not described as such, I picture Frey as an antlered God, a Norse equivalent of Cernunnos and/or the Green Man. Frey means Lord and to the Wicca, he is their horned God, the Lord, as they have Lord and Lady. Frey’s sister Freyja being the Lady, as that is also what her name means. The image on this rune card is someone else’s idea of Frey. The sigil for the rune Ing reminds me of a section of DNA. Frey is a fertility God and is indicating that I should continue with the business of sowing the seeds of my photography business in preparation for next year. The last time I drew this rune, I said that I was in the autumn of my life and that perhaps I should leave client numbers in the property management business as they were. I have replaced a couple of losses but the number of keys I hold isn’t enough, though if I begin to get photographic work, it’s enough to allow me to do both. I hope Frey doesn’t abandon me over the winter.
