Daily Draw

Daily Draw Monday, 05 September 2016 Method: Thoth Tarot. Card Drawn: The Aeon. Last drawn on Thursday, 01 January 2015 using the original Rider Waite Smith Tarot. In other decks this card is known as “Judgement.” This card in Thoth is the spirit of primal fire. On the Kabbalistic tree of life, it is the path joining the 8th sephiroth Hod with the 10th, Malkuth. It is worth noting why Crowley changed this card in the way that he did. The card features Nuit, the Goddess of infinite space, Hadit, the God of the infinitely contracted point and Ra – Hoor – Khuit (Horus), the child of their union. The reason for this change is because Crowley believed that the event portrayed in the last judgement had already occurred. The Aeon card replaced it to depict the moment when the old aeon gave way to the new. As I don’t believe in the day of judgement, however he did believe in the end of the world, destroyed by fire. Crowley believed we are living in the age of Horus, but my knowledge of Egyptian Gods is almost non-existent. Changes of aeons are the result of some change in human consciousness rather than any divine conflict or celestial event. It is as basic as how we view our relationship with the Sun. In this age of Horus, we identify with the seemingly ever living Sun and there is a belief that like the Sun, we don’t die. Death is seen as an illusion and life a path of continual growth. To Crowley then, Judgement was obsolete and I tend to agree with him. Horus then is the force of fire, burning away the old world, yet for those unable to accept new spiritual ideas, perhaps they too perish with the old? This card then shows Horus on the throne, Nuit forms the arch of the night sky. The transparent figure is Hoor – Pa – Kraat, the twin of Horus. Hadit is the winged solar disk. The divinatory meaning of the card, how it applies to me today is in making a final decision regarding something from my past. Look to the future and new currents of spiritual growth. Take a definite step to awaken new possibilities.
