Daily Draw Friday, 30 September 2016 Method: Wild Wood Tarot. Card Drawn: Balance. This is a new, non-standard deck that I can’t compare to any other and will only have a history of cards drawn, just for itself. The cards in this deck are related to the wheel of the year, common to most pagan practices. This card is placed at Beltane, which fell on the 1st May. It is associated with the half moon and universal law. It stands at the gateway to life and is linked to the elements of air and fire. The two serpents remind me of the caduceus, a symbol of my old job and one that has had many negative effects on me, both physically and mentally. This card is pointing out the need of balance between humanity and the rest of nature. The earth is also a living organism upon which we are dependent and yet continue to destroy it through the greed of a few. Our ancestors recognised the special relationship between humans and nature, the dependence on the world for our very existence. Modern man is detached completely from that reality, bar a few enlightened folk. Humans are a virus and our days are numbered if we continue consuming at the current rate. There are more and more natural disasters as the Earth tries to rid itself of the human pest. Humans are responsible for the extinction of tens of thousands of other species and it would benefit those remaining if we were also to follow the road to extinction. Today is a day to balance work and rest. I need to remain patient and contemplate every part of my own existence. I need to find the inner balance which will help me see beyond the present situation. I must trust and have confidence in my own strengths. I also need to look at my shadow side which I can not deny, in order to rid myself of them or accept them for what they are. I must free myself of inner fears and doubts.
